Midea Group is a Chinese multinational electronic manufacturer that was founded in 1968. The company is headquartered in Foshan, Guangdong, China, and has a presence in more than 200 countries and regions around the world.
The company has been included in the Fortune Global 500 list since July 2016 and produces a range of products, including refrigeration appliances, lighting, kitchen appliances, water appliances, and large cooking appliances. Midea also serves as an OEM for several brands and is one of the largest microwave oven producers. Additionally, the company has a long history of manufacturing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) appliances.
In 2016, the company acquired German robot maker Kuka AG for $5 billion, which gave it a major foothold in the global robotics market. In 2018, Midea Group acquired a controlling stake in Toshiba's home appliance business, which gave it access to Toshiba's extensive distribution network in Asia and other regions.
Midea has expanded its brand into foreign markets such as Chile, Brazil, India, Argentina, Egypt, and some Southeast Asian countries. In recent years, Midea has handled several high-profile projects, including the installation of large-scale HVAC solutions in 12 different stadiums in Brazil for the Olympic games.
