Mo Dao Zu Shi
Mo Dao Zu Shi (literally: Demonic Path Master) - or The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation - is based off a popular Chinese light novel of the same name. In this ancient Chinese-inspired fantasy, cultivation of one’s own life force is used to battle evil spirits and demons.
The story follows the adventures of Wei Wuxian, the founder of the unorthodox demonic cultivation method, who was reviled as a villain and died in a siege 13 years ago. He is brought back to life by a sacrificial ritual and inhabits the body of a lunatic named Mo Xuanyu. He then reunites with his former classmate and friend, Lan Wangji, one of the most respected and righteous cultivators in the land. Together, they solve a series of murder mysteries and face a dark conspiracy that threatens to destroy the cultivation world.
The novel has been adapted into various media, including a donghua (Chinese animation) series, a manhua (Chinese comic) series, an audio drama, and a live-action drama. The donghua series has two seasons, with a third one announced for 2021. The live-action drama, titled The Untamed, aired in 2019 and became a huge hit, especially among international fans.
