Montreal
For more than three decades, Montreal has made a commitment to promote bicycle use, and those efforts are still bearing fruit today. The city has great cycling infrastructure. Bi-directional bike lanes already exist across the city, and efforts are ongoing to further increase the safety of regular bike commuters.
With more than 4,000 bikes and 400 stations, the bike-sharing program is one of the biggest in North America. Every Sunday, Montreal also bans automobiles from a number of streets so that walkers and bicycles may enjoy the day without being concerned about traffic. The majority of people show cyclists respect.
Montreal is also one of the few North American cities where you’ll see an emphasis on bicycling for nightlife participation. You can take your bike on the metro, and several establishments have bike parking. The locals are amicable and helpful, so don’t be afraid to ask for directions or advice. Check out the Old Port of Montreal (a beautiful area to ride through) and Mount Royal Park. Mountain bike enthusiasts will love the challenging terrain, while road bike riders can enjoy a more relaxed ride through the city.
