Mount Semeru

Semeru, or Mount Semeru (Indonesian: Gunung Semeru), is a lively volcano in East Java, Indonesia. It is positioned in a subduction zone, wherein the Indo-Australian plate subducts beneath the Eurasia plate. It is the very best mountain on the island of Java. The name "Semeru'' is derived from Meru, the significant global mountain in Hinduism, or Sumeru, the home of gods. This stratovolcano is likewise called Mahameru, meaning "The Great Mountain '' in Sanskrit. Mount Semeru is one of the highest mountains, and also one of the most famous trekking locations in Indonesia.

Semeru rises steeply above the coastal plains of jap Java. Maars containing crater lakes have been fashioned alongside a line via the summit of the volcano.
