Muji

Muji, or Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., is a Japanese retailer that sells a wide range of home and consumer items. Muji's design philosophy is simple, focusing on recycling, decreasing production and packaging waste, and avoiding the use of logos or "brands." Muji is derived from the first part of Mujirushi Ryhin, which on Muji's European website is translated as No-Brand Quality Goods.

Muji's stationery branch began in 1980 with only 40 goods, including pens, pencils, and notebooks. Muji is currently one of the most well-known stationery brands in the world, with 328 directly-operated stores and 505 overseas retail outlets in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, South Korea, and China. Muji's headquarters are in Tokyo's Toshima-ku neighborhood.

MUJI offers a wide variety of good quality items from stationery to household items and apparel. Their customers not only save money, but they also feel better about themselves for helping the environment. This is a win-win situation for MUJI, since the favorable emphasis on their basic beliefs generates great exposure in an era where social responsibility is emphasized.
