Namibia University of Science and Technology
The second one in the top 10 best universities in Namibia that Toplist would like to introduce to you is Namibia University of Science and Technology. The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), formerly known as the Polytechnic of Namibia, is a public university in the Namibian capital of Windhoek. Andrew Niikondo is the university's acting vice-chancellor. Tjama Tjivikua, the founding vice-chancellor of NUST, served as its president until March 2019. Erold Naomab was appointed vice-chancellor in January 2021, following two acting appointments. Peter Katjavivi is the university's chancellor, a largely ceremonial position.
Until the 2010s, the institution was a traditional polytechnic, offering both higher-level vocational training and academic degrees in technical subjects and applied sciences. In many cases, these programs could be combined so that the academic degree could be pursued after completing a more basic vocational training. Since gaining university status in 2015, several Master's and PhD programs have been developed, with short, entry-level certifications being phased out.
The Namibia University of Science and Technology is made up of six academic faculties that offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business and management, engineering, information technology, journalism, hospitality, natural resource management, and medicine. The institution offered 86 undergraduate and 19 postgraduate degrees in 2010. The university now offers master's degree programs as well. In addition, a Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) has been established.
