Naomi Campbell
Born in England in 1970, Naomi Campbell has become a cultural icon across the globe due to her shining career. She is one of the most legendary supermodels of all time - along with Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista - and is classified as a member of the fabled 'Supers' group.
Naomi's career started at a very early age; at the juvenile age of seven, she participated in a video clip for Bob Marley's song 'Is This Love’. And her popularity continued when she starred in a tv series later in the same year. At 15, Naomi was spotted by Beth Boldt, owner of the Synchro model agency, while browsing shops in Covent Garden. Naomi's career took off from this point; by the age of 16, she had already featured on Elle covers. The woman was a regular sight on high-end magazine covers and, of course, on the runway.
Naomi Campbell is still one of the most well-known and prolific black models in history even to this day. Her work opened the way for many women of color in the fashion business. She herself has confronted and overcome discrimination for many years.
