National University of Science and Technology

Number three among the best universities in Zimbabwe is the National University of Science and Technology (NUST). It is a government-owned institution of higher learning in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, that was founded in 1991. NUST opened its doors for the first time on April 8, 1991, with 270 students spread across three faculties. There were 28 members of the academic staff. It was the second government university to be established, and it quickly rose to prominence due to its unique programs, which included industrial attachments (internships). NUST offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the faculties of Applied Sciences, Built Environment, Commerce, Industrial Technology, Communication and Information Science, and Medicine.


The National University of Science and Technology offers a variety of programs designed to foster critical, sharp, and problem-solving thinking. For both domestic and international students, the university offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The programs range in length from 3 to 5 years, depending on the nature of the program and the faculty requirements. The grading system is based on compounded marks for continuous assessment, which are usually between 25% and 30%, and in some cases up to 50% when combined with the exam mark.
