Nevis To St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim
Each year in March, St. Kitts and Nevis celebrate with the most famous festival for swimmers - Nevis To St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim. At this most famous festival, keen swimmers attempt to cross The Narrows – the 2.5-mile strait between Oualie Beach on Nevis Bay and Cockleshell on St. Kitts. Aside from the serious and intense competitions, there are plenty of participants to have fun with, with colorful costumes and drumming and plenty of support along the way.
Nevis To St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim also has the special feature of helping to protect marine life and turtles. Nevis To St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim takes place on March 26, and it will be 15-year-old swimmers that will host the memorial event. It's all about honoring the life of a club member but also raising awareness about turtle conservation. Residents and visitors have a cozzie welcome to join the short swim between the two islands. The swim distance is 2.5miles (4km) from Oualie Beach on Nevis on the 'Narrows' to end at Shell Beach on St Kitts. This most famous festival continues to offer both a race and a challenge to open water swimming enthusiasts and adventurers.
