Pachinko is one of Lee Min Ho's Korean dramas set during a period when the Japanese dominated Korea. Lee Min Ho plays Koh Hansu, a man who lives in Japan but frequently travels to Korea. He is a fish merchant who comes to Korea for business.
The film is a drama based on a novel of the same name. Sunja is a bright young woman whose father died after a long illness and who has taken over as the fish merchant. Sunja is raped by Japanese men because there are schisms between the Korean and Japanese cultures. Sunja and Koh Hansu become friends almost immediately after meeting. When Sunja asks him to marry her, he insults her by revealing that he is already married with three children. Sunja is heartbroken, but she remains focused on her business.
