Papers, Please
Papers, Please is a role-playing game in which you take on the role of an immigration officer working a border checkpoint between two fictional countries, Arstotzka and Kolechia. This is a game as much about morals as it is about rules, so let’s explore how to play Papers, Please.
The game takes place over the course of one month. Every day, players wake up and walk out of their apartment to a matchbox-sized work booth, inspecting passports and documents. A day can last anywhere between 5–20 minutes, based on how slow you may be inspecting each. Players could slip up and let a foreigner in who turns out to be a wanted criminal. Or one day, a suicide bomber rushes the checkpoint and kills a guard. They never know what to expect. The only goal of Papers, Please is to protect and maintain the well-being of the authoritarian Arstotzka at all costs.
Papers, Please plays like an engaging book, though a boring one. It doesn’t sound fun but that’s not true. This game that requires some memorization, quick fingers, and intense scrutiny ranks third in Role Playing games. Therefore, it deserves to be one of the best games on iOS.
