Penis Envy
There are few individuals in the history of mental health who have generated greater controversy than Sigmund Freud. He founded the entire discipline of psychoanalysis and probably made significant advances in the understanding and treatment of mental diseases, while also making a great deal of errors.
According to Freud, almost all aspects of human psyche have a sexual origin, and women are on the lesser end of the spectrum. Because they yearned to be guys, women experienced penis envy. His thoughts on women, who in his mind were little more than imperfect men, were mostly influenced by this oddly broad perspective.
Freud said that penis envy showed itself in women wanting their own fathers as youngsters and subsequently wanting to have male offspring because this was the closest thing to having a penis of their own they could ever have. The entire notion is now regarded as being utter rubbish.
