Philips has expanded its smart lighting systems range with a number of elegant luminaire options available in 120V and 220V variants. Styles differ somewhat per country, but the Philips Hue Econic is the best choice for us. This lighting has a sleek design that distributes light evenly over the whole surface, as opposed to the more centered glow of conventional lamps.

The Philips Hue Econic has a low profile; it is mountable to walls or ceilings, and also serves as a full-color source of light, customizable through the Hue phone app. There is also an outstanding and industry-leading variety of smart home integrations through the Hue Bridge.

Unfortunately, Philips Hue has chosen polycarbonate diffusers over the glass, which will yellow somewhat when exposed to bright sunshine for extended durations. This will tinge the light to a degree - but if you are not working under it, this is not likely to be a significant concern. Under a cover, there will be no issues, and you will benefit from the greatest automation and control capabilities available.
