PING is an American sports equipment company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. The focus is on the production of golf equipment, golf clubs and bags. The company was founded by Carsten Solheim after a career as an engineer at General Electric. In 1959, he started making clubs in his garage in Redwood City, California. In 1967, he quit his job at General Electric to develop the PING.
