Providencia Island
Providencia is a hilly Caribbean island in Colombia's Department of Providencia, located halfway between Costa Rica and Jamaica. The Providence Island Company founded an English Puritan colony on Providencia Island in 1629, which was captured by Spain in 1641. Henry Morgan used Providencia as a base for raiding the Spanish empire, and legend has it that much of his loot is still concealed on the island. Morgan has many places on the island named after him. Santa Catalina Island is littered with forts and cannons dating back hundreds of years.
Diving is a popular activity on this island because of the abundance of aquatic life to be discovered. Felipe's Place is the place to go if you want to observe coral formations and sea critters. Another fantastic place to visit is the Spiral, which has the richest biodiversity in the region.
