Restaurant Chinois

The name of the restaurant is "Restaurant chinois" - "Chinese Restaurant." Given that it is the sole Chinese restaurant in Bangui, if not the whole Central African Republic, a more imaginative name does not appear to be required. When one enters this restaurant, they are met with all of the preconceptions associated with Chinese restaurants. The architecture, colors, and table arrangements are all similar to those seen in traditional Chinese restaurants across the world. This could be any American Chinese restaurant from the 1970s.

Unfortunately, the cuisine in Restaurant chinois is a bit of a letdown. All of the foods appear to be seasoned the same way, which is to say, not at all. This is possibly the most tasteless Chinese food you'll ever taste, reflecting a Central African dislike of flavors. Due to the blandness of the meal, the plates are all starting to look the same. By Bangui standards, the service is courteous and efficient. The proprietor is really welcoming and deserves a lot of respect for keeping this business operating through difficult times.
