Ritz-Carlton Central Park
The Ritz-Carlton Central Park is one of the best hotels in Midtown, NYC that gives you the impression that you've somehow wound up in the middle of a storybook. You don't want to rush through this hotel in order to get to your room. From the moment two top-hatted guys open the door and lead you to the lobby, you want to appreciate and feel it. You are immediately surrounded by warm wood and cool marble, a completely different environment from the drab concrete pavement you were just leaving. The staff is kind and friendly, yet the public spaces have a stiff feel. The Star Lounge, which is off the lobby on the first floor, is the primary gathering place. On the opulent green and beige furniture, well-dressed visitors and locals mingle while enjoying cocktails created by famed bartender Norman Bukofzer. If you feel like going to the bar, which is right next to the lounge, you would be wise to order The Central Park Cocktail. The hotel's signature drink, which is as light and energizing as a stroll through The Ramble, was inspired by the surrounding park.
The décor of the room is simple and cozy, and it is significantly lighter than the downstairs lounge's. Every night, turn-down service is available and a full in-room eating menu is accessible around-the-clock (The club sandwich on toasted sourdough is a must-try). But let's be honest, the stunning views of Central Park are the standout aspect of these suites. You get a completely different perspective on the expansive green space when you look out over the well-known city landmark from just across the street, and some rooms even have telescopes to help you look at it more closely.
