Safaricom, a subsidiary of South Africa's Vodacom Group, founded in 1993, offers various services and solutions from MPesa to mobile devices. It is also Kenya's fastest mobile internet provider. The company offers mobile telephony, mobile money transfer, consumer electronics, e-commerce, cloud computing, data, music streaming, and fiber optic services.
It is most renowned as the home of MPESA, a mobile banking SMS-based service. Regarding voice and SMS market share, Safaricom controls 69.2% and 92.2%, respectively.
