Safety in Tanzania
One of the things about Tanzania you should know is safety in this country. Tanzania is generally safe to visit, however extreme caution is advised, particularly in tourist locations such as Arusha, Stone Town (Zanzibar), and Dar es Salaam. Apart from minor crimes on Tanzanian streets such as pickpocketing, bag snatching, and typical fraudsters operating in busy locations such as markets such as Kariakoo and bus or train stations, there is also a serious crime, and violent crime against foreigners is not rare, so be wary.
When visiting Tanzania, it is critical to be aware of what is going on around you and to always act in a safe manner. Although the overall crime rate is low, there are occasional instances of robbery and violence. Tourists are always discouraged from strolling around alone and are advised to travel in groups, ideally with a native. Travelers should always consider getting travel insurance before leaving their home countries to provide proper coverage in the event of a crime, an accident or sickness, or any other calamity that may occur while abroad.
