When to travel to Tanzania
You may visit Tanzania at any time of year, but depending on your reasons for visiting, you may need to pick a certain period. If you want to go on a family safari or relax on Zanzibar's beaches without being bothered by the rains that fall in March, April, and May, the ideal time to visit Tanzania is between June and October. Wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle herds normally migrate in the Serengeti from May to July, while wildebeests give birth to their calves between January and February. The ideal dates to visit Tanzania for more energetic people who want to climb and conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro are between January and March, and between June and October when it is cooler. While the Northern Circuit Parks might grow full between July and March, the Southern and Western Circuit Parks are always less popular at any time of year.
Of course, these are high travel months. They will be busier, and some lodges, motels, and parks will charge more. If you prefer a more private experience, try going during the brief rainy season, which lasts from the end of October until the end of December.
