Saga Beach, Bujumbura

Bujumbura's Lake Tanganyika beaches are among the nicest in any landlocked African country. The beach, while not spotless white and clean, is nonetheless an enticing area to lay a towel, the swimming is safe, and the water is pleasant. The most picturesque length of the beach is about 5 kilometers northwest of the capital and was once known as Saga Beach.

Saga Beach is located in Bujumbura, on Burundi's western shore. A long stretch of white sand beach with calm (and cool) lake waters in a lively setting. There are numerous trees along the sand that provide shade from the sun. The water is suitable for everyone to swim in, making it a popular beach for families with small children. There are places to dine and stay in the surrounding area. Although some of the bars in the vicinity play music, you may still find a peaceful space to unwind.
