Santuario Dom Bosco

Carlos Alberto Naves, an architect, designed the Santuario Dom Bosco, which is one of the most frequently seen images on postcards of Brasilia. The structure is a white box, like all fine modernist structures. This pattern creates a large complex cross on the roof. It is both brutalist but also subtle. The floor of Santuario Cathedral is covered in marble that accentuates the blue windows creating a sky floor. Blue stained glass fills the pointed arch windows, illuminating the interior in a rich hue. The four rectangular windows are a vivid purple colour rather than blue.

The Santuario Dom Bosco
's windows give it a starry night appearance. If one examines the structure of the building more closely, they may observe that the four walls function more like distinct panels than like the sides of a continuous box. In the Santuario Dom Bosco, the roof is split into four areas that create a relief. The four sides meet in the centre, where a large chandelier is hung up. The cathedral is one of the most important churches in Brazil and is an architectural masterpiece that makes viewers experience it at every step.
