Scituate Reservoir
The largest inland body of water in the state of Rhode Island is the Scituate Reservoir. Its total volume is 39 billion US gallons, and its surface area is 13.7 km2. More than 60% of the state's population, including Providence, receives drinking water from it and its six tributary reservoirs, which have a combined surface area of 18.6 km2.
About 243.5 km2 of the adjacent drainage basin, which supplies water to the reservoir system, is made up of Foster, Glocester, Johnston, and Cranston, as well as the majority of Scituate. The Providence Water Supply Board is in charge of managing the Scituate Reservoir.
The 1,400-hectare lake is fashioned like a Y and is encircled by trees. The Providence Water Supply Board, which owns it, keeps the area secure to preserve the water's quality. Due to its preservation, there is no construction near the lake, making it a peaceful location to sit and read a book, practice meditation, or ponder. There isn't much else to do here but enjoy the scenery. Scituate Reservoir is one of the best lakes to visit in Rhode Island.
