Sipadan - Borneo
Location: 35km south of Semporna off the continental shelf of South-Eastern Sabah, Malaysian Borneo
Sipadan is Malaysia's only volcanic island, located in the Celebes Sea off Sabah. The island is formed from coral growing on top of a volcano that has been extinct for thousands of years. Sipadan is located in the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin, one of the richest marine areas in the world. The ecosystem here has more than 3,000 species of fish and hundreds of types of coral.
Sipadan is one of the most beautiful diving spots in the world. Going to Sipadan is not easy or convenient, but the beauty of this island still attracts many tourists, especially those who love scuba diving. So hard to list all the marine life and underwater corals when diving in Sipadan. Visitors will be able to see schools of bigeye mackerel, sea turtles, giant rays, even whale sharks and hammerhead sharks when diving at one of 40 spots around Sipadan Island.
It is beautiful and peaceful all year round. However, you should go during April, August, and September because this time is very suitable for you to scuba dive and see the life under the ocean.
