SIX Swiss Exchange (formerly SWX Swiss Exchange), headquartered in Zurich, is the leading stock exchange in Switzerland (the other being the Berne eXchange). SIX Swiss Exchange also trades other securities such as Swiss government bonds and derivatives such as stock options. SIX Swiss Exchange is under the ownership of SIX Group, a privately-held public limited company that is self-controlled by 122 banks or financial institutions.


The SIX Swiss Exchange supports several major indices. The most popular index is the Swiss Market Index (SMI), comprising 20 of the largest and most liquid SPI companies. The Swiss Performance Index (SPI) includes more than 200 qualified publicly traded companies. The Swiss Leader Index (SLI) is a limited index of some of the top 30 companies. The Swiss Bond Index (SBI) tracks bonds issued in Swiss Francs. In 2018, all companies listed on the SIX Swiss exchange had a market capitalization of CHF 1.6 trillion, making them one of the best exchanges in the world in terms of capitalization.
