Social Entrepreneurship Specialization
Entrepreneurship is about a group of people joining forces, taking action, and initiating change, not about a single genius doing magic. Learners will be encouraged to work in groups and form a social venture throughout the three courses. They are instructed to contact people who have similar thoughts and concerns about a specific topic in order to form a team.
Learners will select an organizational form, create an appropriate financial structure, and begin developing a business plan. Measuring social impact and selecting the best scaling strategy will determine success. Individual learners will determine whether a team keeps the same members and project throughout all three courses. Changing topics or teams is possible at any time.
You will learn how to create societal impact through Social Entrepreneurship in this specialization. Social entrepreneurship is defined as the discovery and long-term exploitation of opportunities to effect social change. The instructors will introduce you to examples of Social Entrepreneurship and walk you through the process of starting a business to address a social or environmental issue.
You will form a team and investigate a problematic issue to learn more about the root cause. You will provide frameworks for identifying opportunities, assisting your team, and outlining your concept. Throughout the Specialization, you will develop your idea and iterate on your business model, culminating in the completion of a business plan.
