Sprint Corporation
Sprint Corporation, commonly known as Sprint, is an American telecommunications holding company that provides remote administration services and a web access service provider.
The company was founded in 2005 after Sprint acquired Nextel Communications for $35 billion. In 2006, the company launched a local telecommunications by-product business, called Embarq. The company also completed a $6.5 billion acquisition from Nextel Partners, one of its largest affiliates, largely providing wireless telecommunications services to the rural market.
Prior to 2005, the organization was known as Sprint Corporation, but adopted the name Sprint Nextel Corporation when it merged with Nextel Communications that year. In 2013, after the Nextel organization ceased operations and concurrently with the purchase of SoftBank, it reverted to using only Sprint Corporation. In July 2013, as a feature of the SoftBank exchange, Sprint acquired the rest of the broadband-carrying Clearwire telemarketing offerings it did not officially own. During Fiscal Year 2016, Sprint earned Total Revenue of $33,300 million and a Net Loss of $1,477 million.
