United States Cellular Corporation, doing business as UScellular, is an American cellular network operator. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. UScellular is the fourth largest wireless carrier in the United States, with 4.9 million customers in 426 markets in 23 states in 2020.
US Cellular was founded in 1983 as a subsidiary of Telephone and Data Systems (TDS), Inc., which still owns 84% of the shares. Under government law, US Cell partners with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to issue free AMBER Alerts with informative content. PC Magazine granted the U.S. Cell, along with Verizon Wireless, "Reader's Choice" for mobile specialist partnership funding in 2010, demonstrates that it scores best in the customer benefit category. J. D. Power and Associates rated US Cell as having "Most Remarkable Wireless Call Quality Performance". The North Central Region (IL, IN, MI, OH, WI) was honored from 2006-2011.
