Ssese Islands
The Ssese Islands are an archipelago of eighty-four islands located in the northwestern region of Uganda's Lake Victoria. The islands are contiguous with the Kalangala District in southern Central Uganda, which has no territory on the mainland.
The Ssese Islands are a popular tourist site for both visitors and locals. The islands are ideal for birdwatchers and anybody searching for peace, and they are home to a variety of exotic birds, monkeys, and even the occasional crocodile and hippo. From Kalangala, trips between islands can be organized via lake taxi or private boat.
On weekends, you can rent a bicycle, enjoy a lovely bonfire, or explore the party scene at Kalangala Bay. Grab a bite to eat or a refreshing drink at one of the many restaurants and pubs in adjacent Kalangala Town.
