Teva Pharmaceuticals was the biggest company that made generic drugs until Pfizer, based in the US, passed it for a short time. Once Pfizer's generic drug business merged with Mylan at the end of 2020 to form the new company Viatris, Teva returned to being the market leader. Teva is the 18th biggest drug company in the world as a whole.
