Texas Online Preparatory School
Texas Online Preparatory School (TOPS) is a tuition-free online public school for students in grades 3-12 in Texas. It's part of the Huntsville Independent School District and is made possible by working with K12 Inc., a company that provides online educational programs.
TOPS uses technology and a challenging curriculum to create a personalized learning experience for each student. Students can attend live or recorded online classes with teachers licensed by the state from any computer with internet access.
Students in all grades learn English, math, science, history, art, music, and other exciting subjects. Teachers lead live classes and connect with students and families through phone and email to support academic success. 11th and 12th graders who want an extra challenge can take college-level courses through TOPS' partnership with The University of Texas of the Permian Basin. This means they can take some college classes for free, earning credit for both high school and college.
TOPS creates a safe online environment for students to learn and connect with classmates and teachers nationwide. The school supports families with resources, including help for students learning English. During the year, TOPS organizes in-person social events to build community. Graduating seniors are celebrated with an in-person ceremony in the spring. Virtual clubs and student groups also allow students to explore shared interests online.
