The Benjamin Hotel
The Neo-Romanesque building, a New York City Landmark, was originally intended to be a residential-style hotel with wind-swept terraces for entertaining, but it now emanates a private club's ambiance. Interior designer Lauren Rottet completely renovated The Benjamin in collaboration with Benjamin Sleep Expert Dr. Rebecca Robbins to increase its home appeal and provide a laid-back opulence.
This pet-friendly hotel is popular with families and business visitors since each room has a kitchenette with a microwave and a sink (some suites also have full-size refrigerators). The décor is simple and emphasizes comfort in soothing tones of beige and cream: Choose from a selection of 12 pillows, which include antisnoring, Swedish memory foam, and buckwheat-filled options.
Even better, you may ask the sleep concierge, who can make arrangements for milk and cookies or a machine that emits white noise to aid with slumber. The National Bar & Dining Rooms, a sophisticated restaurant built by David Rockwell, offers amenities including a spa and hair salon, a sizable gym, and all of these.
Price: $299–$699 double.
