The Bowery House
The Bowery House is a historic hotel that replicates its previous life as a flophouse on the Bowery in Manhattan, New York City. This reasonably priced motel is infused with ancient Bowery history as a bizarre former residential facility for WWII servicemen. But don't worry, everything else is brand new because of a significant refurbishment.
The communal restrooms have heated floors, free amenities, and sinks and showers made of Italian marble. This eccentric motel has an eerie feel and is ideal for travelers on a budget. The well-known oyster restaurant Pearl & Ash resides in the lower cooking area. There are worries that the tenants who stayed after the area became a flophouse are being utilized as an attraction to forcibly create a sense of nostalgia that would appeal to high-end tourists.
A 1927 Bowery flophouse has been turned into a chic interpretation of a hostel by two young real estate investors. Vintage prints and old images that are lighted by light bulbs housed in mason jars from the 1930s and 1940s embellish quarters. The guest lounge is furnished with chesterfield sofas, chandeliers, a large LCD TV, and a selection of international-style magazines, while the spotless (gender-segregated) public bathrooms include rain showerheads and goods from the neighborhood spa Red Flower.
