The English College in Prague
The English College in Prague is an IB school in Prague offering academic education in English for students aged 13–19. It's a 6-year school, and Czech students join in the 7th grade. The college has about 370 students, around 70% being Czech and 30% from foreign countries, including Eastern Asia, Russia, and Eastern Europe.
The English College in Prague aims to provide a top-notch English-medium education, especially for young people in Prague who are mainly of Czech origin. The aim is not only to achieve academic excellence but also to help each other reach their full potential and prepare them for the challenges of today's globalized society.
Located near the Vysočanská metro station and a shopping center with a food court, the school features specialized science labs, an art center, a music room, a computer center, a well-equipped library, a multi-purpose hall, and an all-weather outdoor area.
The curriculum includes two internationally recognized programs: IGCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB). Students complete the IB Diploma in the sixth year and earn the Czech Maturita, a legal document signifying the completion of Czech secondary education, enabling them to apply to Czech universities. The Czech language is part of the Maturita, but a program without Czech is available for non-Czech speakers.
The college offers various in-school and extra-curricular activities such as rock climbing, chess, poetry slams, and opportunities for charity fundraising and voluntary activities.
