Number one on the previously mentioned list of most expensive cameras. The Leica 0-Series No. 122, which was purchased for $2.97 million.

This Leica tops our list of most expensive cameras because it sold for the most money of any camera to date.

It was sold at auction in Vienna to a private Asian collector. It was a pre-production prototype made by hand in 1923.

Because the focal plane shutter was not self capping on the early models, the lens cap was attached to a cord. It is made of aluminum and has a black lacquered brass top plate, base plate, and nickel-plated knobs.
