  1. Number one on the previously mentioned list of most expensive cameras. The Leica 0-Series No. 122, which was purchased for $2.97 million.

This Leica tops our list of most expensive cameras because it sold for the most money of any camera to date.

It was sold at auction in Vienna to a private Asian collector. It was a pre-production prototype made by hand in 1923.

Because the focal plane shutter was not self capping on the early models, the lens cap was attached to a cord. It is made of aluminum and has a black lacquered brass top plate, base plate, and nickel-plated knobs.

  2. The Susse Freres Daguerreotype Camera, which costs $978,000, is ranked second on our list of the most expensive cameras.

This is the oldest camera ever constructed (1893).

It's also one of the first two commercially available cameras.

Alphonse Giroux created it, and Jacques Mande Daguerre signed it. It could be a true masterpiece of art for ardent photographers.

The camera was designed to capture the entire plate and was optimized for landscape photography. Believe it or not, the handmade lens by opticians accounted for a large portion of the cost of this camera.

  3. The O-Series Leica No.107, which sold for $500,000, is ranked third on the list.

Based on its history, trust me when I say it's worth it. Oskar Barnack designed the O-Series Leica No.107, one of the first portable cameras, in 1923.

Nearly 20 cameras were produced in order to determine the competitiveness of portable cameras.

This one was shipped to New York to obtain a patent in the United States, making it the first Leica to be exported.

Finally, it is one of the world's most expensive cameras.

  4. The Phase One XF IQ4 150MP Camera, which costs $55,000, ranks fourth on our list.

Its new Sony (BSI) backside-illuminated CMOS sensors improve color, detail, and noise handling. ISO sensitivity of 50-25600 and exposure times of up to 60 minutes have come a long way since digital medium format cameras were limited to 1600 ISO.

It includes professional photo editing software.

The Phase One IQ4 camera is available in three configurations: the IQ4 100 megapixel Trichromatic ($47,990), the IQ4 150 megapixel ($51,990), and the IQ4 150 megapixel Achromatic ($54,990) for black and white photography.
