The Singer Songwriter Specialization by Berklee College of Music
Do you have a favorite music that you'd want to share with others? You'll learn everything you need to create, perform, and record your own unique music in the Singer/Songwriter specialization. In Guitar for Beginners, you'll start by learning how to play the guitar to accompany yourself. You'll learn chords, scales, strumming patterns, and finger picking patterns, among other things. You'll explore your voice and build your own particular style in Singing Popular Music. You'll learn how to sing correctly, including proper technique and breath support.
You'll then develop your writing skills, focusing on lyrics. Stressed and unstressed syllables, rhyme schemes, and lyrical phrasing will all be covered. You'll also use a Digital Audio Workstation to record and share your ideas with the world, focusing on Ableton Live and recording both MIDI and real instruments into your DAW.
You will play a song from beginning to end using a lead sheet in the first course of this specialization, Guitar for Beginners. You will hone your style and perform a song in Singing Popular Music. You will have completed an original song by the end of Songwriting: Writing the Lyrics. Finally, in Introduction to Ableton Live, you will compose and record your own music using actual instruments and MIDI.
