The Standard
In the Meatpacking District of Manhattan, New York City, at 848 Washington Street between West 13th and Little West 12th Streets, is The Standard, High Line, formerly known as The Standard. It is one of the Coolest New York City Hotels To Stay. It is located above the High Line, a former elevated train track turned linear park.
The hotel, which opened in 2009 and includes 338 rooms, was created by Ennead Architects (formerly Polshek Partnership). The hotel is elevated thirty feet above the park below on five enormous sculptural piers known as pilotis, which lift the structure 57 feet (17 m) above street level. One obvious difference between this building and Manhattan's orthogonal street grid is its elevation.
The two concrete slabs that make up the structure were being hinged by another. In addition to being a decorative option, the hinge method had a practical purpose. All 338 of the hotel rooms feature unrestricted views of Manhattan, including the Hudson River, the Empire State Building, and the New York City skyline because to the angle of the two slabs.
