The weather’s pleasant year-round
East Timor has a tropical monsoon environment with average temperatures between 22°C and 31°C. April to July is the best season to visit this idyllic island because of the weather. It is one of the reasons to visit East Timor. There are numerous diverse micro-climates, ranging from dry, desolate hillsides to heavily forested heights, with farmed land in between. Generally speaking, the countryside gets much greener and more lush as you travel south.
Timor-Leste normally experiences tropical weather with hot, humid days and cool, comfortable evenings. But because it's cooler up in the mountains, you'll want to pack a few extra garments for the mornings and evenings, especially if you're climbing Mount Ramelau. It is pleasant and bright from May through October during the dry season, with only sporadic light showers. From November to April, when it rains, the area is lush and green, the temperature is a little warmer, and the water is warm enough for diving and snorkeling. However, many of the rural and mountainous roads become inaccessible, and tropical cyclones are a possibility.
