With a population of 37.39 million, Tokyo is the most populous city in the world today. However, this number is leveling off due to Japan's declining birth rate and aging population. Tokyo is located on the east coast of Honshu, the largest of the four islands that make up Japan . The city is the unofficial capital of Japan and one of the forty-seven prefectures of Japan. The city was originally called Edo but was renamed in 1868 when the Japanese imperial family moved from Kyoto. Tokyo is home to fifty-one of the Fortune Global 500 companies, and it is ranked 4th in the Global Cities Index. Tokyo's residents are mostly Japanese with Chinese and Korean communities. Tokyo is home to the headquarters of major corporations and financial institutions while the manufacturing sector is mainly concentrated in Yokohama, Chiba and Kawasaki.

Tokyo Skytree TV Tower was inaugurated in 2012, is the landmark TV tower of Tokyo Japan tourism. With a height of 634m, it is considered the tallest building in Japan as well as the tallest TV tower in the world. The tower includes a large shopping complex and an aquarium designed in the basement as well as the most popular tourist attraction in Tokyo. The highlight of the Tokyo Skytree is that there are two observatories located at 350 meters and 450 meters high with breathtaking panoramic views across Tokyo. This is considered the highest observatory in Japan and one of the tallest observatories in the world. At the top of the spiral is an observation deck that has an out-of-the-way area with tall windows that offers views across Tokyo. This floor officially sits at 451.2 meters and forms the highest point of the observatory.

Senso-ji Temple
or Asakusa Kannon was built in 645 and is considered the oldest temple in Tokyo, Japan. Especially in front of the gate there is a big red lantern, 4m high, 3.4m in circumference weighing up to 670 kg. The two sides of the gate are statues of Raijin (Thunder god) and Fujin (Wind god). Over the centuries, Senso-ji Temple still preserves many ancient relics, which is one of the reasons why it attracts countless people as well as tourists from Tokyo Japan to visit.
