Trump has written or co-written several books

Tony Schwartz, a ghostwriter for Trump, penned his first book, Trump: The Art of the Deal, which was published in 1987. Trump regularly used co-authors and ghostwriters to create his books. In certain situations, such as Time to Get Tough (2011) and Crippled America (2015), the ghostwriters are acknowledged on the cover, while in other cases, Trump specifically mentions the writer's work in the acknowledgments. Self-help books, personal finance manuals, political policy treatises, and autobiographies are among the works authored by Trump.

The focus on Trump himself is a recurring motif in Trump's writing, as evidenced by examples from his real estate investing and television work, according to Washington Post journalist Carlos Lozada. In his writings, Trump frequently employs hyperbole to support his arguments. In other publications, Trump retells the same tales of what he considers to be his greatest commercial achievements. One such story is about a deal struck in the 1980s that saw the Wollman Rink in Central Park, New York, improved. After 2000, Trump's published publications switched from being primarily autobiographies about himself to books offering financial advice.
