Global semiconductor contract manufacturer and designer headquartered in Taiwan, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC; sometimes known as Taiwan Semiconductor). Located in Hsinchu Science Park, it is the largest dedicated independent semiconductor foundry in the world and the most valuable semiconductor company in the world. The majority of the corporation is owned by shareholders based in other countries.

Morris Chang established TSMC in Taiwan in 1987; it quickly rose to prominence as the world's first dedicated semiconductor foundry. It was the first Taiwanese company to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: TSM) in 1997, and it has been trading on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE: 2330) since 1993. AMD, Apple, ARM, Broadcom, Marvell, MediaTek, Qualcomm, and Nvidia are just some of the major fabless semiconductor businesses that TSMC serves. Other customers include up-and-coming enterprises like Allwinner Technology, HiSilicon, Spectra7, and UNISOC. Both Xilinx and Altera, two of the most prominent names in the programmable logic device industry, rely on or have relied on TSMC's foundry services.

TSMC produces semiconductors for customers with process nodes ranging from 2 microns to 5 nanometers as of 2020, with a global capacity of roughly 13 million 300 mm-equivalent wafers per year. The 2020 Apple A14 and M1 SoCs, as well as the MediaTek Dimensity 8100, will leverage TSMC's 7-nanometer and 5-nanometer production capabilities, and TSMC was the first foundry to commercialize extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography technology.
