Understanding Research Methods by University of London
The goal of this MOOC is to deconstruct research and research methodology. It will cover the principles of conducting research, with a focus on postgraduate students, but not entirely. It prioritizes the student experience by involving students in a variety of vigorous and demanding conversations and activities that reflect SOAS, University of London's reputation as a research-intensive university with a rich research history.
The course will appeal to those of you who need a better understanding of research methods and abilities, as well as the capacity to apply them in your studies or careers. This course will benefit those of you who are required to perform research as part of your postgraduate studies but do not have access to research methods courses, or who believe they would benefit from additional self-improvement help. This course requires no prior knowledge or expertise in research, and it is therefore open to anyone.
This MOOC is based on a variety of current course content designed to assist research training at SOAS, University of London, with a focus on the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (CISD). For its innovative approach to online learning, the course was nominated for the coveted Guardian University Award in 2015.
This online course will not provide academic credit for University of London programs if you participate or complete it.
