United Engineering Construction Company (UNEC)
Founded in 1976, United Engineering Construction Company (UNEC) is a well-known General Contract Company with market-wide portfolios with headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is now also targeting the neighboring Arab markets and the Maghreb.
Initially, United Engineering Construction (UNEC) was a family-run business. Engineer Halim Muwahid, a native of Jordan with years of experience working in Dubai's construction industry, launched the business as a provider of concrete fabrication. Later, he transformed it into the integrated construction firm it is today, and he currently serves as its manager.
From employing 10,000 people, UNEC has reduced its workforce to around 5,000, yet the company still holds the majority of major construction projects in the region. UNEC has just handed over to Nakheel customer 26 apartment blocks forming the Emirates cluster of International City with a view of over 800 hectares. Next to that is a $170 million contract that covers only the construction of external services and infrastructure that is being done for the developer, Nakheel. Besides, other major projects also carried out by UNEC include the five-star Bab Al Bahr hotel in Ajman, and the 202-room luxury hotel for the Ajman Ministry of Public Works worth 250 million AED (about $68 million), which was completed in 2012.
UNEC is known as an award-winning construction company with over 40 years of experience in the construction industry. With its rich experience, progressive innovations, and commitment to standards of professionalism, safety, and efficiency, UNEC has become a trusted and potential partner for many developers of a number of buildings and the most iconic landmarks across the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf.
