Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (University of Puerto Rico-Rio, Mayaguez Campus), ranked second among the best universities in Puerto Rico, was founded in 1911 and is a non-profit public state higher-education institution located in the small city of Mayagüez (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants).
