Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico (Interamerican University of Puerto Rico), ranked third among the best universities in Puerto Rico, was founded in 1912 and is a non-profit private higher education school located in the small town of San Germán (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants). Aguadilla, Arecibo, Barranquitas, Bayamon, Fajardo, Guayama, San Juan, and Mercedita are among locations where this university maintains a branch campus.

Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico (IAU) is a small coeducational Puerto Rican higher education institution nominally linked with the Christian-Protestant church, as recognized by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

In several fields of study, the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico (IAU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, and doctorate degrees.

This 108-year-old Puerto Rican university maintains a strict admissions procedure based on entrance exams and applicants' previous academic records and ratings. This Puerto Rican higher education school is moderately selective, with an acceptance rate of 40 to 50 percent.
