University of Hradec Králové
The University of Hradec Králové was established on June 21, 2000, in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. Its beginnings can be traced back to 1959. Kamil Kua is the rector of the institution, which has roughly 6,500 students. The university today has four faculties: the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Informatics and Management, the Philosophical Faculty, and the Faculty of Science, all of which are housed on the Na Soutoku campus.
In 1998, Czech architects named the university's Common Education Building "Building of the Year." The Faculty of Informatics and Management's adjacent building, which cost 360 million CZK, was completed in 2008. The Faculty of Science, which was completed in 2016, is located next to it. The project took 21 months to complete and cost over 450 million CZK.
The Philosophical Faculty building has been undergoing renovations since 2020. During the construction, the faculty is temporarily housed on Vt Nejedl Street. The Faculty of Education will be revitalized beginning in 2021. The university also intends to construct a natural and social sciences complex with laboratories that will enclose the campus's core.
With a capacity of roughly 900 beds, UHK has two halls of residence: Palach Halls of Residence (Palachovy koleje) and Vt Nejedl Halls of Residence (Koleje Vta Nejedlého). Renovations to the Palach Halls of Residence are now underway.
