USC Gould School of Law
The first law school in Southern California was USC Gould School of Law. Women and students of color have been enrolled in the school since its founding. The university still enrolls the greatest number of international students and has one of the most diverse student bodies of law schools in the country. This produces an atmosphere that welcomes a diversity of viewpoints and experiences.
World-class instructors, a diverse and close-knit student body, a well-located campus, an interdisciplinary curriculum, and a helpful alumni network are all contributing factors to USC Gould's success. The faculty's multidisciplinary focus, leadership in the field, public service, and scholarship in numerous fields have earned them recognition on a national level. Our small class sizes and low teacher-to-student ratio foster a friendly, small-group learning atmosphere.
Access to externships, clerkships, and career opportunities with business and legal firms, public interest organizations, and entertainment, media, and technology companies is provided by USC Gould. The school was a pioneer in the fields of clinical and multidisciplinary legal education. Among the first universities to emphasize an interdisciplinary approach to legal studies is USC Gould.
These days, USC Gould offers 15 dual-degree programs and incorporates courses at the intersection of several important disciplines into its curriculum. Our many clinics, practica, and externships provide students with practical experience in practicing law and working with actual clients.
Following the foundational year, you will be able to move seamlessly from theory to practice by taking advantage of the interdisciplinary and experiential education options offered in the second and third years. In addition, you will have the chance to enroll in courses at other highly regarded USC departments and schools outside of the law school.
By concentrating on a specific area of concentration, obtaining one or more of the six certificates, working with clients in a clinic and/or externship, pursuing a dual degree, studying abroad, holding an editorship or staff position in a student journal, or taking part in moot court, you will have the chance to obtain unmatched real-world experience.
