Vecāķi Beach
If you are planning a day excursion to all of Latvia's beautiful beaches, Vecaki Beach will undoubtedly be your ideal match. During the summer, this 8-kilometer-long sand strip flanked by pine trees is a fantastic escape. Adults and children alike will have a great time. This sandy beach is easily accessible via public transportation. It is around a 10-minute walk from the Vecaki train station, which is about 20 to 25 minutes away from Riga's central station.
There are two perfectly managed buildings of public toilets on the beach, as well as various eateries dotted around the seashore and the railway station. The first week of September is a perfect time to visit because the beach is neither empty nor overcrowded, creating a pleasant and familiar atmosphere all around. Various Latvian inhabitants often avoid Jrmala and head north, in opposition to the Veci's ancient fishing village.
After around 40 minutes, get off the train and follow the crowds to the beach. Along the walk, there will be various cafés and kiosks where you may fill up on supplies, and more should be available right adjacent to Vecaki beach. The beach isn't as crowded as the one at Majori, but it's still very crowded on a bright day, and it's one of the greatest beaches in Latvia for seaside volleyball.
