Warsaw Montessori High School
As a part of the Warsaw Montessori Family, one of the most famous groups of educational institutions in Poland, the Warsaw Montessori High School likely continues the principles of the Montessori method into the high school years, providing a unique and holistic educational experience that fosters the development of children.
Specifically, it aims to teach students the values that Maria Montessori outlined in her educational philosophy such as responsibility for one’s own development, care for others, honesty, empathy, and service. Therefore, the student-centered approach of Montessori forms students who are inquirers, life-long learners, and critical thinkers who reflect on the results of their actions in order to build an understanding of the world.
Referencing the curriculum, the Warsaw Montessori High School has the Montessori philosophy and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program that aims to create curious, independent, reflective individuals with a focus on noble work, and a greater world-view. These curricula not only help students develop themselves to become global citizens but also make them become bolder risk-takers in this ever-changing world.
Teaching and learning in the IB program is a mixture of inquiry, action, and reflection on the part of both students and teachers. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with other students and to develop intellectually and emotionally. Moreover, students are required to study six subjects that they choose from six academic areas and a curriculum core that consists of CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), TOK (Theory of Knowledge) , and EE (Extended Essay) over a two-year period.
